The cheapest CS2 case on October 7, 2026 was the Kilowatt Case at $0.08 on cs.money, and 12 of the 42 weapon cases cost under $1. The original CS:GO Weapon Case was the most expensive at $99.75. Steam was not the cheapest market for a single case: buying elsewhere saved a typical 34.5%.

Two in three cases cost less than $5

We took the lowest price for each of the 42 weapon cases across 16 international markets. 28 of them cost under $5, and the typical case cost $2.86. None cost more than $100.

The price of a case says nothing about what it drops. A $0.08 case and a $99.75 case use the same rarity odds.

Steam was never the cheapest place to buy a case

Steam listed all 42 cases and had the lowest price on none of them. A typical case cost 34.5% less at the cheapest market. On the Kilowatt Case and the Dreams & Nightmares Case the saving was 50%.

Steam takes a 15% cut from every sale, so sellers list higher to make up for it, and Steam Wallet money cannot be withdrawn. That is also the one good reason to buy cases on Steam: if you already have Wallet money you cannot cash out, spending it there can make more sense than letting it sit.

CSFloat had the lowest price on two cases in five

CSFloat was the cheapest market for 39.3% of the cases, more than twice as often as anyone else. cs.money came second, and it won mostly at the bottom of the list: it had the lowest price on the Kilowatt, Revolution, Clutch and Fever cases.

The gaps between the cheapest markets are small. On the Operation Wildfire Case the five cheapest were between $2.54 and $2.64, so compare the final checkout price, not the listing. Each market's fees are on our marketplace pages.

The two sealed terminals cost cents

The Sealed Genesis Terminal and the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal are containers too, but not weapon cases, so we kept them out of the 42. Both are among the cheapest containers you can buy.

How we measured this

  • One snapshot of our price data, taken on October 7, 2026 around 06:18 UTC.
  • We used the lowest listed price on each market, in USD, for listings that were in stock. Buyer fees, deposit fees and payment fees are not included, and a listed price is not what a case sold for.
  • We counted 42 weapon cases: every container named "Case", plus CS:GO Weapon Case 2 and 3. Souvenir packages, sticker capsules, music kit boxes and the two sealed terminals are not in the count.
  • The ranking uses 16 international markets that listed cases: avan.market, Buff.Market, cs.money, CSFloat, DMarket, HaloSkins, Lis-skins, Market.CSGO, SIH.app, SkinBaron, SKINFLOW, SkinOut, Skinport, Steam, UUSkins and Waxpeer. Gambling sites and trade bots were left out, because you pay with site balance or other skins.
  • In a separate run with Buff.163, YouPin898, Ecosteam and Skinswap CN added, a China-focused market beat the international price on only 3 cases, by a typical 1.2%.
  • Every case had prices on 14 to 16 markets. A price under half of the case's median across markets was treated as bad data and ignored. When two markets shared the lowest price, they split the win.
  • The saving against Steam is the gap between the Steam price and the cheapest price, as a share of the Steam price, and "typical" is the median across cases. This is one snapshot, so it shows no price trends, and keys are not in our price data.
